William Albert Bodine was a horticulturalist and practiced different farming techniques which proved to be quite successful. He had just been appointed as the Linn County Fruit Inspector in February, 1919, and was very excited about his new position. He had been sick as a child, which caused damage to his heart and he had reluctantly finally moved the family into town due to his weakness, which he never complained about, but which always worried his wife, Addie. He was the proud father of five daughters and one son. William and Sarah Adeline "Addie" (Richardson) Bodine had been blessed with the following children:
1. Daniel, b. 1886
2. Ruth Lenora, b. 1889
3. Margaret, b. 1891
4. Nettie, b. 1897
5. Addie, b. 1899
6. Vernetta, b. 1906
He was saddened that he was no longer able to care for the farm, which he had lovingly cared for and his children also loved, having been raised there. It was near Santiam, Linn Co., Oregon, and was quiet with acres of trees and he felt a nearness to his Creator there. Reluctantly, William had moved the family to 627 E. 5th in Albany, which is where he was living with his wife and daughters when he died on June 26th, 1919, just 3 weeks before his 61st birthday, due to heart disease. He was buried at Riverside Cemetery by his grief stricken family. Addie never remarried and passed from this life in 1943. She is buried next to her beloved husband. May they all Rest in Peace.
