Kempton Native Stricken Today
J. Weaver Kemp, 84, Kempton, died in Tipton Hospital this morning at 8:30 after a three week illness. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday from the Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Nash officiating and burial will be in Kempton Cemetery. Friends may call at the Young-Nichols Funeral Home after 2 p.m. Thursday.
The deceased was born in Tipton County in 1880, son of Joseph and Victoria Kemp. He was married to the former Cora Dell Goodnight who preceded him in death April 15, 1963. He was a member of the Kempton Methodist Church and after finishing Kempton schools he was a farmer and served as secretary-treasurer of the Federal Land Bank.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Lela Myers, a teacher in Clinton County, Mrs. Isla Alexander, a teacher in Tipton Community School System; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; a brother, Jesse Kemp.
