Mrs. Weaver Kemp Succumbs Tuesday
Mrs. Weaver Kemp died at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at her home in Kempton. She and her husband had returned home from Florida one week ago. Although Mrs. Kemp had not been well for the past four weeks and had sustained a fall earlier in the day, her death was attributed to a coronary occlusion.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at Ralph McMullan Funeral home, Kempton, with Rev. Daniel Bengston in charge. Burial will be in Kempton cemetery. The body will lie in state at the funeral home, where friends may call after 10 a.m. Thursday.
The former Cora Goodknight, she was born in Tipton county on Dec. 22, 1880, the daughter of Samuel and Matilda (Boone) Goodknight. Her marriage to Weaver Kemp occurred in September, 1903. Mr. Kemp was a member of the Kempton Methodist church, Jolly Stitchers club and a charter member and first president of the Kempton Home Demonstration club. She had taught also school in Windfall and Kempton.
Surviving are the husband and two daughters, Mrs. Carl (Isla) Alexander, route 1, Kempton, and Mrs. Lela Myers, of Forest; a brother, James A. Goodknight, of Kempton; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Two brothers and a sister are deceased.
