OBITUARY
Madison, Neb., Jan. 23--Special to the News: Funeral services for Mrs. Fannie E. Martin, widow of the late William R. Martin, who died in her rooms at the home of Mrs. Hannah Cleveland here Sunday afternoon, were to be conducted this afternoon at the Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Samuel Horton, pastor. Services were to be under auspices of Pleiad chapter No. 99 Order of Eastern Star, of which she was a member.
Mrs. Martin was born Nov. 22, 1857 at Little York, Ill. She was married to Mr. Martin in 1897, about which time they located in Madison County where the family has since resided.
She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Bernice M. Dotson, Wayne; three sisters, Mrs. Ida Brannian, Jamaica, N.Y.; Mrs. Edith Scalp, Mitchell, and Mrs. Rose Anderson, Madison, and two brothers, Ralph Sterner, of Kansas, and Dell G. Sterner, Enola.
Burial was to be made in Crown Hill Cemetery here.

Funeral Rites For Mrs. Fannie Martin Held Here Tuesday

Mrs. Fannie Martin, 77, passed away at her home in Madison Sunday, Jan, 21, 1934, following an illness of about three weeks.
Mrs. Martin, whose maiden name was Frances E. Sterner, was born at Little York, Ill., on Nov. 22, 1857. She moved with her parents to Pennsylvania and later accompanied them to Nebraska. She was united in marriage to Wm. R. Martin on Aug. 20, 1896. They resided on a farm west of Enola until the death of Mr. Martin about four years ago.
Mrs. Martin had been an active member of the Presbyterian Church from girlhood. Four young women, Eva Robertson Basse, Millie Hanson DeGroot, Pearl Elley Matheson and Ruth McGehee O'Shea, members of her Sunday school class in 1893, attended the funeral in a body.
Martha Circle of the Presbyterian Aid Society were also present to pay their last respects to a faithful co-worker. Mrs. I.M. Dawson and Mrs. Nellie Yeazel, with old time friends, sang, "Abide With Me." "Jesus Lover of My Soul" and "It Is All Well With My Soul."
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon from the Presbyterian Church. Rev. S.N. Horton, pastor, took for his text, John 11:28. "The Master is come and calleth for thee." He paid a beautiful tribute to the life of the departed. Interment was made in Crown Hill Cemetery with the services at the grave conducted by Pleiad Chapter of the Eastern Star of which she was a member.
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. E.H. Dotson, of Wayne, Nebr., and one step-daughter, Mrs. John Oleson of Lindsay, Nebr.; also three sisters, Mrs. Rose Anderson, Enola; Mrs. Ida Brannian of New York City, Mrs. Edith Scalph of Mitchell, Nebr., and two brothers, Ralph Sterner of Inavale, Nebr., and A.G. Sterner of Enola. She is also survived by a number of grandchildren.
