Well Known Enola Man Dies
Friday Following Stroke
Buried Sunday

W. R. Martin, well-known Enola man, passed away Friday morning following a stroke which he suffered on Thursday. Death came as a shock to his many friends and relatives.
Funeral services were held at the home near Enola on Sunday afternoon, conducted by Reverend S. N. Horton assisted by Reverend L. V. Hassell. The Masonic order had charge of the services at the grave. Interment was made in the Crown Hill cemetery.
William Riley Martin was born in Illinois, January 21, 1858. When a small boy, moved with his family to Iowa. In 1884 they left for Harvard, Nebraska. He was married to Frances E. Laughlin on August 20, 1896. They located in Madison County where he lived until his death , on August 22, 1930.
He leaves to mourn his death, his wife, two daughters, Mrs. John Oleson of Lindsay and Mrs. E. H. Dotson of Wayne. One daughter preceded her father in death, passing away August 22, 1917. There is also one brother, four sisters, and fifteen grandchildren.
Mr. Martin was a member of the Masonic order and of the Eastern Star. He was always a public spirited man, interested in anything that was for the betterment of the community.
A kind and loving husband and father, a loyal friend and neighbor has passed on before us.

Wm. R. Martin Dies Following Stroke Aug. 21

William R. Martin, 73, resident near Enola, passed away at his home Friday morning following a paralytic stroke which he suffered on Wednesday night. Mr. Martin had been enjoying the best of health and he and Mrs. Martin had celebrated their thirty-fourth wedding anniversary on Wednesday.
William R. Martin was born at Little York, Ill., January 1st, 1858 and passed away at his home near Enola, Nebr., August 21, 1930. He first came to Nebraska from Illinois in 1884 and settled at Harvard, Nebr. In 1896 he moved to Madison County and had resided here ever since.
Mr. Martin was a member of Globe Lodge No. 113 of Madison, Nebr., and had been a Mason for over forty years. He was a member of the Madison County Fair Board for about eleven years. During the recent primary election he was a candidate for the republican nomination for sheriff.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Fannie Martin, and two daughters, Mrs. Daisy Oleson of Newman Grove and Mrs. E. H. Dotson of Wayne, Nebr. There are also fourteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held from the home near Enola at two o'clock Sunday afternoon, August 24th, Rev. S.N. Horton officiating. Interment was made in Crown Hill cemetery. The services were in charge of the Madison Masonic Lodge.
