Henry C. Loveland Dec. 23, 1885 – Sept. 12, 1945

Death claimed the life of Henry C. Loveland, 59 years of age, prominent and esteemed resident of Washington township, early Wednesday morning. Mr. Loveland, who had been in poor health for some months, was not considered seriously ill, but at 6 o'clock Wednesday morning he suffered a heart attack and passed away a short time later.

A lifelong resident of Washington township, Henry C. Loveland was born Dec. 23, 1885, the
son of Franklin and Maria Loveland. He attended school in Washington township and in
Monticello. On Feb. 21, 1907, he was united in marriage to Miss Bertha Bidlingmaier, the
ceremony being performed by the Rev. Carl Heyl, pastor of the Monticello Reformed church.

Mr. and Mrs. Loveland farmed in Washington township until 1924 when Mr. Loveland
disposed of his farm to his brother, Otto. For a year Mr. and Mrs. Loveland made their home in Monroe and then came to Monticello, where they made their home for about a year. In 1926 Mr. Loveland purchased a small tract of land just west of the old shooting park, where he had a new home erected and where they had since resided. Mr. Loveland was a member of the Monticello Zwingli Evangelical and Reformed church. During his many years of residence in Washington township, Mr. Loveland held several, offices of public trust. He served as township assessor for several years. and at the time of his
death was health officer of the township as well as chairman of the Town Hall Cheese
Company, an office which. he held since the organization was formed in 1936.

Surviving are the bereaved widow; one daughter. Florence, at home, one sister, Mrs. Chas.
Lee, Shullsburg; and one, brother, Atty. W. A. Loveland, Monticello.

He was preceded in death by his father in 1907, his mother, who passed away in 1942, two
brothers Otto and Frank, and one sister Mrs. Matt Klassy, LeRoy, Minn.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 Friday afternoon in the Zwingli Evangelical and
Reformed church. The Rev. A. R. Achtemeier, church pastor, will officiate and burial will be in Highland cemetery.
