POLK COUNTY NEWS * Wednesday, June 25, 20003 *

Mr. Oscar Forest Amburn, age 69, of Mineral Bluff, passed away on Tuesday, June 17, 2003 in the St. Joseph's Hospital in Atlanta following an extended illness. Mr. Amburn was born on March 23, 1934 to the late Charles A.and Mary Panter Amburn. He was retired as a hoist engineer from the Tennessee Copper Company and was a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church where he served in the capacity of deacon and choir director for approximately thirty-five years. He also served on the Fannin County School Board for twelve years. He was preceded in death by one brother, Frederick A. Amburn.

Survivors include his wife, Reathel Amburn of the home; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Babby Amburn of McCaysville and Spiro and wife April Amburn of Woodstock; one daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia Amburn Wright and husband Rob Wright of Mineral Bluff; one sister, Mary Emma Clonts of Huntsville, AL; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted on Thursday, June 19, 2003 at 4:00 p.m. from the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, with Rev. Jimmy Cheatham, Rev. Weldon Davis, and Rev. Al Patterson officiating. Music was by the Pleasant Hill Church Choir. Jean and Cleve Oliver, and Chris Patterson. Pallbearers were Paul Dockery, Lynn Ross, Jimmy Harris, Gerald Ledford, Doug Heaton, Don Queen, Junior Hancock, and Barry Thomas. The gentlemen of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church served as honorary escort. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge in charge of arrangements,
