Mary Emma Amburn Clonts, 89 of Huntsville, AL passed away on Friday, March 15, 2019. Mary Emma was born on July 26, 1929 in Ducktown, TN. She was the oldest of three children. She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles A. and Mary Panter Amburn; brothers, Frederick Amburn, Forrest Amburn; granddaughter, Jill Butler Lares; son-in-law, Richard Lindsey and by her husband of 61 years, Sam Clonts.
Mary Emma married Samuel Edmund Clonts in March of 1948 at Harmony Baptist Church, Blue Ridge, GA. Together, they had three children, Linda Whiteley (Bob), Karen Butler (Tom), and Jeff Clonts (Regina). She is survived by her children, along with five grandchildren, Chris Lindsey, Susan Lindsey Walker, Robin Butler King, Mary-Catherine Clonts and Morgan Clonts; ten great grandchildren.
Mrs. Clonts taught elementary school for 30 years in Madison County and 10 years in Tennessee. She had a life-long bond with her students, several of whom visited her through the years. She attended North GA College and graduated from MTSU.
Mary Emma was a born again believer baptized at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Mineral Bluff, GA. She taught Sunday School at Locust Grove Baptist Church for over 45 years. She was an avid quilter, enjoyed gardening and helping her husband with his hobbies of raising cattle and baling hay.
You may visit with the family on Sunday, March 17, 2019 at Locust Grove Baptist Church from 1:00pm until 3:00pm. Funeral Services, officiated by Rev. Jeff Clonts and Dr. Robby White will begin at 3:00pm. Interment to follow at Valhalla Memory Gardens.
