Mr. Raney died at Confederate Memorial Hospital after a long illness. He was a retired auto mechanic for the Raney Auto Paint & Body Shop and was a member of the Baptist Church.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Bessie Raney of Shreveport; five sons, Shelton, Billy, Cecil, Jimmy and Charles Raney, all of Shreveport; two daughters, Mrs. Helen Haley of Shreveport and Mrs. Frances Springer of Houston, Tex.; four brothers, G. O. and August Raney, both of Shreveport, Leland and Curtis Raney, both of Flint, Mich.; two sisters, Mrs. Grace Smith of Memphis, Tenn., and Mrs. Stella McCollum of Flint; and 11 grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral rites will be conducted Saturday at 4 p.m. in the Dwire-Gentry Funeral Home Chapel for Cecil C. Raney Sr., 63, of 4468 South Lakeshore Dr., who died Thursday in Confederate Memorial Hospital after a long illness.
The Rev. Weldon Ferry, pastor of the Linwood Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Centuries Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Edward Kenaghan, J. Edward Morneav, Wilson Brooks, Robert P. Burns, Ralph G. McCrary and Early J. Munch.
