Earl S. Dailey was born September 21, 1887, in Limeville, Iowa. Mr. Dailey died June 3, 1984, at Fairlawn Heights Nursing Home in Topeka. He moved to Topeka in 1929, lived in Smolan from 1971 to 1974 before moving back to Topeka.

He was a retired self-employed carpenter and farmer. He was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church, Topeka.

His wife, Helen M., died in 1972. Survivors included four sons, Harold, John, Tom and Robert; four daughters, Inez Chiles, Theresa Michaelis, Margaret Cunningham and Evelyn Wineteer; 38 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; one great great-grandchild; and a half-brother, Presley French.
