William Orrin Dailey
William Orrin Dailey, youngest son of Willam McCollum and Eunice Blair Woodman Dailey,was born May 4 1866 in Rio Township Knox County Illinois and died in Jefferson la, at the home of his daughter Mrs J. W Russell, on December 24,1954 at the age of 88 years seven months and 26 days
In 1869 he moved, with his parents to Wayne County. Iowa, near Lineville. Eighteen years later he moved to Cherokee County.
On January 22. 1893, he married Jennie M. Searles, of Liberty Township, Cherokee. The couple had ten children, five boys. Two girls and two boys preceded him in death.
Mr Daily was Superintendent of the Meriden Public School for 14 years. He was elected County Auditor of Cherokee County in 1912 and served there for 20 years. He also served as ordained minister for 17 years , as pastor of the Christian Church at Archer, la . On January 1, 1933 he became paster of the First Church of Christ in Cherokee where he served for seven years. Since that time he has, been in retirement, serving whenever he- was called, until August, 1954, when they moved to Jefferson.
Surviving Rev. Dailey are his wife. Jennie; six children. Floyd W. of Detroit. Mich ; (Vera) Mrs. George Coulson of Storm Lake; W Merle or Des Moines; (Letha) Mrs J W Russell of Jefferson. Wayne of Des Moines and (Mary) Mrs John F. O'Connor of Waterloo One half-brother. Earle; two half-sisters, Ethel and Alma; 36 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren and several nieces, nephew's and other relatives also survive
Funeral services were conducted on Dcember 27 in the First Church of Christ with Rev Albert Delbridge officiating assisted by four other pastors Music was provided by Mrs Wayne Witcombe and Mrs Earl Hobbs accompanied by Mrs A E Brundeen.
Pallbearers were Glenn Champion George Nelson. Archie Nelson Ernest Byoure Harry LeBolt A. E Brundeen Burial was in the Meriden cemetery.
