J. W. Dailey, an enterprising and progressive farmer of Sheridan Township ... lived in Knox Co, Ill, until he was 15, when he went to Wayne Co, Ia. There he remained 3 years, engaged in farm work, to which he had been trained from boyhood. In 1872, he left Iowa and went to Fort Wayne, Ind, in which place he engaged in bridge building for 3 yrs. Thence he returned to Iowa and stopped in Grundy Co. In 1881 he came to Cherokee Co and bought 120 acres of land in Sheridan Township ... Mr Dailey is a stanch supporter of the principles of the Republican party. He served as road supervisor in 1883 and in 1884 he was elected township trustee and is now serving a second term.
