Mrs. Childers was born June 25, 1910, in Warrensburg, the daughter of William Robert and Burnetta Meece Brumett. She was formerly employed as a sales clerk for S.S. Kresge Co. in Decatur. She was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church. She married Elmer Childers on Jan. 8, 1942. He preceded her in death Jan. 10, 1969
Surviving are her daughter, Patsy Sutton of Helena, Ala.; grandson, Robert Hedgpeth and wife Vonnie of Helena; great-grandchildren, Timothy Hedgpeth of Decatur; Robert Hedgpeth Jr. of Helena; Bryan Taylor and Bradley Taylor, both of Helena; niece, Wilma Verrill of Decatur; several other nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers and six sisters.
