James Markham was born in Jefferson county December 10, 1845 and died May 13, 1927. He married Cloay [sic] Holliday December 22, 1865. They had nine children. One daughter, Ida Pettit, died a few months ago. The others are Mattie McKitrick of Oklahoma, Minnie Bayles of Flora, T.H. of Johnsonville, C.C. of Wilmore, Ky., Elmer died in infancy, J.E. of Zenia, W.A. of Assumption, Illinois and K.R. of Centralia. Burial in Johnsonville cemetery.
Note: James apparently changed the spelling of the family surname from Marcum to Markham. Note that his death record in the Illinois death index on ancestry was spelled Marcum.
