Frank E. Guthrie, 94, died in the Pittsfield Nursing Center in Pittsfield, Monday, July 29, 1974, at 7:25 a.m. Mr. Guthrie was born in Pleasant Hill Township Aug. 10, 1879, a son of Henry and Sarah Windmiller Guthrie. He had bee in failing health for several years. He was a member of the Baptist Church. About 65 years ago he was owner and editor of the Pleasant Hill Messenger, and later was a civil service employee in Washington, D. C. His wife preceded him in death. Surviving are a son, Wayne of Downers Grove, Ill. and a daughter, Mrs. Wayne (Evelyn) Van Slyke of Lodi, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. Grace Kennedy of Pittsfield. A son, Lawrence was killed on a bombing mission over Roumania in World War II. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2:00 pm in Ward-Lummis Funeral Home . Rev. Wayne Guthrie will officiate. Burial will be in Crescent Heights Cemetery.
