Cookie, the middle child of seven children, was born Sept. 9,1922 to Harry A. and Ida E. (Marks) Cook on their family farm. Eleanor grew up in a strong Christian household on the family farm in the Kelly-Leroy, CO area. She attended and graduated from the Harding School with her siblings and multiple cousins.

Upon completing high school, Eleanor worked as an upstairs maid for the Buell family in Denver. She met and became engaged to Warren R. "Bonnie" Carlson in 1942 in Sterling where she has resided since. After vigilantly awaiting for his return from the service in the Pacific Theater in 1943-1946, she married Bonnie on Feb. 9, 1946. To this marriage, a son, Olyn Royd and a daughter, Krysti Kay, were born.

In Sterling she was employed at Montgomery Wards, the Elk's Club, J C Penney's and Hested's. Cookie maintained an active life style by being involved in Extension Homemakers, serving as a Laubach Literary Tutor and as a Vietnamese family daily contact person. Cookie served on the board for the Gary Desoto Building, Logan County 4-H Foundation and the Logan County Literacy Coalition.

She was a 4-H leader for over 30 years teaching many young people to sew, and was so proud of being a four generation 4-H family. She served as a county fair judge for 20 years. One of her greatest joys was following her grandkids' activities, as well as being a crafter, quilter, stained-glass artist, and gardener. She enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and camping in the Rocky Mountains.

She demonstrated her Christian faith by serving in the United Methodist Women locally and in the district, Church Women United, as well as a board member for the Logan County Co-Op Ministries.

Preceding her in death were her brothers: Lester Marcus Cook, Herbert Merle Cook, Arlo Eugene Cook, Elmo Armin Cook and her sister Inez Ethel Anderson. Also greeting her in paradise are her beloved husband, Warren and grandson, Chad Arron Nienhueser.

Surviving her are her children: Olyn and wife Diane Carlson, Krysti and husband Martin Nienhueser, her grandchildren Merissa Perkins, Elizabeth Carlson, Shaun and wife Mikki Nienhueser and Ericka Nienhueser; and her great-grandchildren Morgan, Makayla, and Mason Perkins.

She is also survived by her older sister, Velma Alice Richard, and 2 sisters-in-law Mildred Cook and Ginny Cook and one brother-in-law Dale Andersen.

Memorials have been established to: Christ United Methodist Church, Logan County 4-H, or the Chad Nienhueser Memorial Scholarship.
