GEORETTA WOOD
Georetta Wood, 84, Kahoka, died at 1:10 a.m. Thursday, May 26 at Blessing hospital in Quincy.
Born March 16, 1893 in Clark County, she was the daughter of T. A. and Louella Cook Barrows.
She married Joseph B. Wood February 23, 1916 in Kahoka. He died August 15, 1969.
She is survived by three sons, Dale E. of rural Farmington, Stuart B., Kahoka, Joseph Dean, rural Canton, one brother, Wayne Barrows, Evansville, Indiana, four sisters, Mrs. Mabel Schuster, Wyaconda, Mrs. Florence Walker, Kahoka, Mrs. Margaret Westbrook of Lancaster, Mrs. Stella Colter of Wyaconda, several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Lee A. Barrows.
Services at 2 p.m. Saturday at Peaksville Christian Church with interment in Revere cemetery.

GOLDEN WEDDING
Joseph Baird Wood and Clara Georetta Barrows, both of near Revere, were united in marriage at the Methodist Episcopal parsonage in Kahoka on Wednesday, Feb. 23, 1916, at 4:00 p.m. Rev. Cuthber L. Elliott officiated.
The bride is the daughter of Thara A. and Luella (Cook) Barrows of Revere. The groom is the son of Stephen and Martha Jane (Baird) Wood of southeast Revere. They were accompanied by Jacob Colter and Stella Barrows, sister of the bride.
Those were the horse and buggy days, mud was axle deep. Joe and Georetta reached the county seat in a two horse buggy and their attendants went on horse-back.
They returned to the bride's home, where a wedding supper awaited them.
On March 4 of that year they established their home on the Baxter Calvert farm north of Kahoka. In December of that year they moved to their present home, which they now own.
Their home was blessed with three sons, Dale E., Farmington, Iowa. Stuart B., Kahoka, and J. Dean, of rural Kahoka.
They are also proud grandparents of ten granchildren and four great grandchldren.
Joe and Georetta have been active in church and community affairs.
The three tiered cake decorated in white with gold roses, was served from a table covered with a white lace cloth over gold.
The centerpiece was an arrangement of yellow and bronze mums in a gold vase.
Refreshments of cake, coffee, punch, nuts and mints, were served by the granddaughters. Mrs. Patricia Wood, Mrs. Julie Matheney, Mrs. Bonita Ensminger and Miss Janet Wood. Miss Nancy Wood and Gary Wood attended the gifts and Connie Wood at the guest book.
Georgie Taylor, sister of Mr. Wood, Florence Walker and Wayne Barrows, sister and brother of Mrs. Wood, were unable to attend.
They received many lovely gifts and cards and a telephone call from Georgie Taylor of Des Moines, Iowa.
Guests were present from Independence, MO., Lancaster, Hamilton, Ill., Burling, West Point, and Keokuk, Iowa and Poplar Bluff, MO.
The family thanks all who helped in joining with them in honoring their parents on this happy occasion.
