Richard M. Brown, aged 71 years, died at his home in Washington township, Volant R. D. 2, Sunday at 2 p.m., culminating an illness of one week. Mr. Brown was born September 22, 1867, in Shellyville, Ky., son of Michael and Kate Brown. He lived in the Washington township community for the past 25 years, a farmer. He was a member of St. Mary's R. C. church of Pittsburgh. His wife, Katie Bilker (Spilker) Brown, whom he married 40 years ago; the following children; Richard of Mercer, Mrs. Dorothy Shaner, Mrs. Margaret Gerber and Francis E. of Volant, Walter H. of Irwin, Pa., and Herbert G. of Los Angeles, Cal.; 12 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, four brothers, Michael, John, Patrick and William, and one sister, Margaret in Kentucky, survive. Services will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the residence with Rev. J. C. Fulton, pastor of the Plaingrove U. P. church, and Rev. J. Leslie Bell, pastor of the Plaingrove Presbyterian church, in charge. Interment will be in the Plaingrove U.P. cemetery.
