Mrs. Dorothy K. Brown Shaner, 84, of Volant RD 2 died in the Jameson Memorial Hospital at 12:08 a.m. on March 27, 1986, following an extended illness. She was born in Pittsburgh on Oct. 6, 1901, to Richard M. and Katherine Spilker Brown. She married John P. Shaner on July 31, 1920. He survives. They were married for over 65 years. Mrs. Shaner was a member of the Plain Grove Presbyterian Church. She is also survived by one son, Walter E. of Tampa, Fla.; two daughters, Mrs. William (Katherine) Thomas of Mercer RD 4 and Mrs. Eugene (Leora) Heckathorne of Volant RD 2; one sister, Mrs. Carlon (Margaret) Gerber Black of Volant RD 2; and 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by five brothers, Richard, Francis, Herbert, Walter and a twin brother. Visiting hours will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at the Smith Funeral Home in Leesburg. A service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home by the Rev. Mark Davis, pastor of Plain Grove Presbyterian, and Dr. George Henderson a Presbyterian minister. Interment will be in North Plain Grove Cemetery.
