Rev. Mr. Eric Laudeman, 34, was a Deacon of the Oblates of St. Francis de Sales. Born in Pottsville, the seminarian fell asleep at the wheel of his car and veered off the Garden State Parkway near Avalon, New Jersey, in a one-car accident. He was alone in the car. He entered the Oblates in 1998. He was to be ordained to the priesthood on May 21 at Our Mother of Consolation Church, Chestnut Hill, where he lived while working at Northeast Catholic High School. The Oblates were excited about the ordination, because Laudeman would have been the first Oblate in the Philadelphia area ordained since 1999. Following ordinatiion, he was to be assigned to Northeast Catholic as school chaplain. As a Deacon, he began ministry as a parish Deacon at Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish, Vienna, Virginia.
