Newton Man Is Killed In Sports Car
A rural Newton man was killed instantly at 2:01 a.m. today
when his sports car went out of control on Highway 42 eight miles north of the Manitowoc - Sheboygan County line.
According to a coroner's report Ronnie Voss, 21, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Voss, R. 1. Newton, died of a cerebral hemorrhage resulting from a skull fracture.
Capt. Edward McConnell of the Manitowoc County Highway Patrol said the Voss car traveled out of control for 200 feet or more.
Traveling south, it sheared off a mail box and a utility pole, rolled over several times and came to rest near a milk house on a farm operated by Don Karstaedt.
The 1960 model Triumph was described as a complete wreck.
Immediate cause of the accident could not be determined. Capt. McConnell said the mishap was on a straight, dry stretch of road in open country. Voss' death brought the 18th Manitowoc County traffic fatality of the year.
He was born on Feb. 16, 1939, in the Town of Meeme. He attended rural school at Osman, and was baptized and confirmed at St. James Evangelical Reformed Church at Spring Valley by the Rev. Carl Schmahl. He served in the U. S. Navy for four years, and currently had been employed as a farmhand.
He is survived by the following: his parents; four brothers, (private); four sisters, (private).
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Walter H. Ahrens Funeral Home, Howards Grove. The Rev. Merlin Huebschman,
