Zelma Jeffreys Wood, 87, went to be with her Lord on March 26, 2004.
Visitation will be Saturday, March 27, 2004, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Morrison Funeral home, Tuscumbia.Her funeral service will be Sunday, March 28, 2004, at 2 p.m. at Zion Hill Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Old Bethel Cemetery, with the Rev. Thomas Thornton officiating.
She was born Aug. 18, 1916, in Lawrence County, Ala., to the late Ben and Luda Vines Jeffreys.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Milton Wood; brothers, Jesse Jeffreys, Gurna Jeffreys and Lloyd Jeffreys; and sister, Vada Walker.
She is survived by her daughter, Jackie Smith and husband, Aaron, of Leighton, Ala.; sisters, Ada Hagood and Nina Lansford; and brother, Dempsey Jeffreys.
Pallbearers will include nephews, Carlos Hagood, Jesse Jeffreys Jr., Malcolm Walker, Harold Jeffreys, Danny Jeffreys and Jimmy Hassett.
She was a wonderful wife, mother and sister, a devout Christian and taught Sunday school for 30-plus years.She was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church.She will be missed by all of those who knew and loved her.Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia, is directing..
