He was born March 11, 1921, in Lawrence County, Ala., to Ben Jack Jeffreys and Luda Vines Jeffreys. He was a farmer. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served on the USS Chester during World War II, in the Pacific Theater. Mr. Jeffreys was a member and deacon of New Zion Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife Juanita Witt Jeffreys; son Dan Jeffreys and wife Joyce of Huntsville; granddaughter Shannon Jeffreys of Columbia, S.C.; and two sisters, Ada Hagood of Decatur, and Nina Lansford of Vincent, Ala.
Pallbearers will be Mac Walker, Harold Jeffreys, Bill Wimberly, Max Witt, Aaron Smith and Phillip Jeffreys.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jesse Jeffreys Jr., Carlos Hagood, Jimmy Hassett, and the deacons of New Zion Baptist Church.
