Catherine Rebekah Rodes, 89, of Mount Crawford, passed away on Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at Rockingham Memorial Hospital.

She was born in Rockingham Co. on January 16, 1924, and was a daughter of the late David Michael and Naomi (Koogler) Rodes.

Catherine worked for Norman & Yvonne Whitesel for 44 years. She attended the Covenant Presbyterian Church in Harrisonburg.

She is survived by four sisters, Martha Burkholder of Mt. Crawford, Iva Beachy of Harrisonburg, Rhoda Bennett of Hinton, and Ruby Rodes of Mt. Crawford; five brothers, John Rodes of Mt. Crawford, Noah Rodes of Port Republic, Aaron "Shorty" Rodes of Harrisonburg, Daniel Rodes of Mt. Crawford, and Adin Rodes of Bridgewater. Numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by four sisters, Frances "Priscilla" Beery, Ruth Groff, Anna Lehman, and Esther Good, and a brother Joseph Rodes.

A memorial service will be held at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 546 West Mosby Road, Harrisonburg at 7:00 PM on Friday, March 1, 2013 with Pastor Burress McCombe and Pastor Tim Frost officiating. Burial will be private.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 28, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Johnson Funeral Service in Bridgewater.
