Daniel David Rodes, 79, of Mount Crawford, passed away Saturday, January 6, 2018.
He was born in Pleasant Valley on March 21, 1938, and was a son of the late David Michael and Naomi Ruth (Koogler) Rodes.
Daniel was a Bishop over numerous churches in the US and overseas. He co-founded with his wife, Estdan Printers, Dandee Printing, Truth, Light and Life Mission and Truth, Light and Life Ministries Int. and had a daily radio broadcast sharing the gospel.
He was united in marriage on November 29, 1961 to Esther Marie (Hege) Rodes, who preceded him in death on November 27, 2012.
Surviving are two daughters, Ellen Auville and husband Raymond, of Elkton and Naomi Riehl and husband Mahlon, of Mt. Crawford; two sons, Robert Rodes and wife Lera, of Indiana and James Rodes and wife Esther, of McGaheysville; a daughter-in-law, Leah Rodes; three sisters, Martha Burkholder, Rhoda Bennett, and Ruby Beachy; three brothers, John Rodes, Noah Rodes, and Adin Rodes. He is also survived by 24 Grandchildren, 34 Great Grandchildren, foster daughter, Carole Gardner and numerous foster children.
He was preceded in death by a son, Raymond Rodes, granddaughter, Priscilla Rodes, six sisters, Priscilla Beery, Catherine Rodes, Ruth Groff, Anna Lehman, Esther Good, and Iva Beachy; and two brothers, Aaron Rodes and Joseph Rodes.
A funeral service will be held at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 546 W. Mosby Rd., Harrisonburg at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 13, 2018 with Reuben Esh and Mahlon Riehl officiating. Burial will follow at Early Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Friday, January 12, 2018 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Johnson Funeral Service in Bridgewater.
