George Edward Jorgensen, the son of Erik Jorgensen and Sidsel Marie Madsen Jorgensen, was born August 17, 1918, on his parents' farm in Sharon Township, Audubon County, Iowa and died April 17, 2002, at the Audubon County Memorial Hospital in Audubon, Iowa at the age of 83 years and 8 months.

George was baptized and confirmed as a Lutheran. He attended country schools in Lincoln township. After school, he helped on the family farm.

On October 15, 1942, he was united in marriage to Irene Larsen in Omaha, NE. Three sons, Larry, Steve, and Doug were born to this union. They farmed northeast of Audubon for 23 years. In December of 1965 they moved into Audubon. George worked for S & H Alfalfa Mill in Audubon for several years. Irene died April 15, 1993.

George was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Audubon. George prided himself in keeping his cars and equipment in immaculate condition. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and was always very proud of his grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Irene Jorgensen; his parents; his brothers and sisters: H.P. Jorgensen, Lena Laurtisen, Anna Lauritsen, Hannah Hansen, his sister-in-law, Gladys and her husband Ernest Jessen.

Survivors include his children: Larry Jorgensen of Missoula, MT; Steve and wife, Diane Jorgensen of Ottumwa, IA; Doug and wife, Cindy of Carroll, IA; his grandchildren: Scott and Melody Jorgensen of Adair, IA; Monte and Melinda Jorgensen of Guthrie Center, IA; Gene Jorgensen of New York City, NY; Marty and Shea Jorgensen of Adair, IA; Heather and Rob Ransom of Ottumwa, IA; Amanda and Kent Fairchild of North Liberty, IA; Halie Jorgensen of Carroll; his great-grandchildren: Spenser Jorgensen and Trevor Jorgensen both of Adair, IA; Michaela Jorgensen, Madisyn Jorgensen, McLain JOrgensen, all of Guthrie Center, IA; Nickolas Jorgensen and Karter Jorgensen, both of Adair, IA; cousin Elvera Wiemann of Audubon; brother-in-law, Harvey and wife Barbara Larsen of Exira, IA; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Casket bearers: Scott Jorgensen, Monte Jorgensen, Gene Jorgensen, Marty Jorgensen, Lyle Hartmann, Frank Jorgensen, and Lloyd Jorgensen.
