Mrs. Rose Ashley Perkins, 63, wife of Ralph Perkins, died early Saturday morning, August 26, 1961 at her home on the Massena Center Road.

Mrs. Perkins had been in failing health for 10 or 12 years. However, she appeared to be no worse than usual during the week. She talked with a daughter at about 5 o'clock Saturday morning, and later in the morning when members of the family went to awaken her, they found she had died.

She was born July 7, 1899, a daughter of Charles and Kathryn Sharlow Ashley, on the Ames farm on the West Hatfield Street Road. She attended district school and in April 1915 was married to Mr. Perkins. They had since resided in Massena. Mr. Perkins has retired at the aluminum plant.

Surviving are the husband; seven daughters, Mrs. James (Verna) Facteau, Massena, Mrs. Floyd (Lenora) Wells, Hollywood, CA, Mrs. James (Helen) Lavine, Winthrop, Mrs. Ray (Betty) Bell, Mrs. Lloyd (Connie) Trippany, Mrs. George (Marguerite) Gabor, all of Massena and area, and Miss Mary Perkins, at home; four sons, Francis Perkins, Long Beach, CA, Sherwood Perkins, Massena-Winthrop Road, Lyle Perkins, Blackstone, VA and Rodney Perkins, Massena; 41 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

Also surviving are eight brothers, James, William, Ted, Roy, Clarence, Lester, Grand and Bernard Ashley, all of Massena and area; six sisters, Mrs. Edward (Nellie) Lauber, Mrs. Frank (Sadie) Simser, Mrs. Francis (Lena) Kearns, Mrs. Joseph (Sylvia) Premo, Mrs. Thelma Lacomb, all of Massena, and Mrs. Mabel Prescott, Syracuse. A brother, Albert Ashley, died last December.
