Gilbert Desmond Siron, 66, of Cheverly, Md. and formerly of McDowell, Va., died Wednesday, August 23, at King's Daughters' Hospital, Staunton, Va. He was born August 6, 1912, at McDowell, a son of J. Howard and Sarah Armstrong Siron. He had lived in the Washington area for 47 years and was a retired refrigeration mechanic for Giant Food Corp. He was a veteran of World War II. having served in the Pacific Theater. He was a member of the American Legion Post 108 Cheverly, Md. Disabled American Veterans and National Rifle Association. Survivors include a brother, Guy Siron of Waynesboro, Va.; four sisters, Miss Hattie Siron and Mrs. Mary Armstrong, both of McDowell; Mrs. Peggy Crawford of Covington, and Mrs. Cornelia Carter or Virginia Beach, two nieces, and one nephew. A service was held Friday, August 25 from Obaugh Funeral Home, by the Rev. Charles Moore with burial in McDowell Cemetery.

Friends and relatives of Gilbert D. Siron, who is stationed with the Armed Forces at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, will be interested in knowing that he has recently been promoted from the rank of Corporal Technician to Sergeant.
