Sergeant Joe A. Siron
Joe A. Siron, son of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Siron was killed in a plane crash last Thursday morning, Oct. 5, at Elgin Field, Florida. He is survived by his parents, his wife, two brothers, Gilbert in Europe, Guy at home, five sisters, Mrs. Cornelia Carter of Clifton Forge; Lt. Hattie Siron in England; Mrs Martha Brown and Miss Peggy Siron of Richmond; and Miss Mary at home. Joe had many friends and was friendly and of a lovable and kind disposition. His funeral was held Monday at the Presbyterian church, of which he was a member, conducted by his pastor Rev. L.M. Moffett, assisted by Rev. Gaston Boyle of Mt. Carmel church and Rev. L.O. Rose of the Methodist church. Soldier escort: Ensign Fred Ralston, Corp. Cornell Leake and Pvt. Tommy Hair of Elgin Field. The floral tribute was profuse and beautiful. The body was laid to rest in the cemetery on the hill. Those relatives from a distance attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hiner of New Castle, Ind.; and Robert Rhodes of Cleveland, Ohio.

MONTEREY GIRL IS BRIDE IN FLORIDA
Mr. and Mrs. Riley Simmons of Monterey announce the marriage of their daughter, Lula Belle at Crestview, Florida to Sergeant Joseph A. Siron, son of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Siron of McDowell. The ceremony was performed in Florida, July 8, 1944. The couple is residing in Florida where the bridegroom is stationed.

Friends of Joe A. Siron of Elgin Field, Fla., will be pleased to know that he has been promoted to the rank of corporal. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs J. Howard Siron of McDowell, and was a selectee from Highland county, inducted in the army at Camp Lee, March 15th this year. Another brother, Corp. Gilbert Siron, is stationed at Fort Jackson, S.C.
