Son of Lubbert and Cato Wanders.
Born 4-1-1869 Wageningen, Netherlands.

He emigrated from Wageningen, Netherlands in 1892 at age 25.

Married Elbartje "Bertha " Van Donselaar 2-2-1900
Their first five years, at least, were spent in Black Oak Township. In 1904 Albert and his youngest brother ,Jan,"John" bought a farm together southwest of Tracy in Marion County. They paid $9600 for 160 acres ($60 per acre.) Family tradition says Albert's family moved back to the home place near Pella in 1918 but the 1920 census shows them living near Tracy. He was a faithful member of the First Christian Reformed Church being treasurer in 1919.

They had five children:
Lewis Wanders
Grace (Vandekieft) Wanders
Katherine( Standage) Wanders
Albert Jr Wanders
Marie (Nollen) Wanders

Albert Wanders Sr.

Albert Wanders, son of Louis Wanders and Cateau Van Engen, was born in Wageningen, Gelderland, the Netherlands on April 1, 1869. He came to America at the age of 25 years. He departed this life on Friday, November 26 at his home 4 miles Southeast of Pella. He attained the age of 74 years, seven months and 25 days.

Mr. Wanders was married on February 2, 1900 to Bertha Van Donselaar who with five children survives him, namely, Lewis at home, Mrs. Grace Vande Kieft of Tracey, Mrs. Katherine Standage of Baldwin Park California, Albert Jr. Of Pella and Mrs. Marie Nolen of Pella. He also leaves six grandchildren. Is also survived by two brothers, Cornelius Wanders of Okaton, S.D., John Wanders of Tracey, three sisters, Mrs. Jerry Van Donselaar of Grinnell, Mrs. John Van Donselaar of Leighton, and Miss Judith Van Lienden of Pella. To the best of knowledge, two brothers and one sister are also living in the Netherlands. One brother, Steven proceeded him in death.

He was a faithful member of the First Christian Reformed church of this place.

Funeral services were held on Monday, November 29, 1943 at the residence at 1 PM and at the first Christian Reformed church at 1:30 PM, the Rev. J. Vander Ploeg in charge. Interment was in Black Oak Center cemetery.
