His siblings were Hendrika born 1869 who died young in 1871, Gysbertje born 1870, Hendrika W. born 1871, Pieternella born 1873, who also died young in 1876, Wilhelmina "Minnie" born 1874, Antonia born 1880, and Herman Martinus born 1883. The children were all baptized in the First Reformed Church in Pella Iowa.

Over the years this family lived on several farms in Black Oak Township raising wheat, corn, oats and Irish potatoes. They also made butter, cheese and molasses. They had chickens, horses, cattle and pigs on their farms.

February 1, 1900, Peter married Minnie, daughter of Gerrit and Hendrika (De Bruin) Vermeer in Marion County Iowa. The Rev H. J. Veldman preformed the ceremony. Peter continued farming in the Pella area. His WWI registration for the draft said he was medium height, slender build, gray eyes and brown hair.

Peter and Minnie had two sons -
Albert G. born Nov 21, 1900 who married Edna Van Zante, and died Dec. 24, 1993.

Gerrit Harry born Nov. 6, 1902 who married Georgianna Henrietta Roorda, and died Jan. 7, 1990.

Minnie died in 1948 leaving Peter a widower for 19 years.
