T. Albert was born in Ede, Netherlands. He came to the United States sometime before 1868, as he married Egje deJong April 7 of that year. The Rev. Egbert Winter, pastor of the First Reformed Church in Pella preformed the ceremony. They had 8 children - Hendrika, who only lived about 2 years, Gysbertje, Hendrika W., Pieternella, Wilhelmina (Minnie), Peter, Antonia H., and Herman Martinus.

They farmed several farms in the Black Oak Township area. In 1880 their total acreage was 110 acres. They had horses, cattle, swine and poultry. They raised wheat, corn, oats, hay and Irish potatoes. They also made butter and molasses. They had a 1/2 acre of apple trees.

In 1901 they retired and moved to Pella.
