- son of Stephen F and Elizabeth (Baker) [wrong she was Annie Wilford]
- Attended Hamilton College in New York
- He was one of the earlier settlers in New Diggings
- In 1833 he married Catherine Tomlinson [widow of his partner James Hammond]
- In 1835 he purchased a farm near White Oak Springs
- He was member of the first Grand Jury for White Oak Springs
- He served as County Board Chairman during the years of 1857-1860
- He served as County Judge in 1862-1869
- He was a Member of Assembly in 1879
- He was a State Senator from 1879-1880
- His children are: Theodore E, John W, Isabel, Joseph, Eugene, and Jeanette [and others]
- He owned a cabin in New Diggings
- He died in 1868 at his home
