Celia Leonora Simmons Way was a wife of (Colonel) Chester Loveland whom she married in polygamy on 21 Jan 1854. She had her first child, Joel on 3 Dec 1854 (he died in 1855). Multiple plural marriages (Chester had at least 7 wives) often did not work out among all the parties. It is very possible that she divorced Chester and married William Way on 1 October 1863 at Camp Douglas, although no records can be found of such events. Celia and William appeared in the June 1880 census of Amador County, California. The military pension record card states that William's widow, Celia, applied for a pension on 17 July 1897 (implying William's death). Celia then appears to have moved back to Fish Haven to be near her sister, Amanda Loveland, and her brother-in-law, Joel C. Loveland (Chester's brother). --TCSmith
