Calvin "Pat" Beard, Campbellsville, son of the late G.W. Beard and Melcena Chelf Beard, was born in Adair County, March 17, 1917. He died at 8 p.m., Friday, Feb. 21, 1992, in Campbellsville after an illness. He was a member of the Campbellsville Baptist Church where he served as deacon and was a retired employee of Tennessee Gas Transmissions Co. He was married to Naomi Rollins on June 3, 1937. Besides his wife, Beard is survived by one daughter, Barkley Ann Fightmaster, Prospect, Ky.; two granddaughters and one grandson-in-law, Leah and Ray Magers, Campbellsville, and Lori Noe, Louisville; two great-grandchildren; two sisters and one brother, Gladys McKinley and Hazel Murray, both of Campbellsville, and the Rev. Morris Beard, Plano, Texas; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends. The funeral was at 2 p.m., Monday, Feb. 24, at the Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville with Dr. James E. Jones officiating. Burial was in the Brookside Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Dr. Forest F. Shely, Buddy Newton, Wallace Phillips, Mac Hill, Don Salsbury and Chuck Headley. Honorary pallbearers were members of Dr. Mardis's Sunday School Class at Campbellsville Baptist Church and the Faith Sunday School Class of Campbellsville Baptist Church.
