Alyce McMillan, age 91, of Larimore, ND, passed away Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at the Larimore Good Samaritan Center.

Alyce was born August 5, 1921 in Petersburg, ND, the daughter of Hans and Mary (Donnelly) Wangen. She grew up on a farm and attended school in the Petersburg area and later went to Larimore High School. Alyce took accounting classes and was later employed at A & L Potato Co. in East Grand Forks, MN as a bookkeeper.

On May 29, 1946, Alyce married Brooks McMillan in Michigan, ND. The couple lived and farmed near Niagara, ND until they retired and moved to Larimore in 1980. Together, they were active in the American Legion and the Larimore Senior Center, where Alyce enjoyed playing Bridge. Alyce was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. After Brooks' passing on August 5, 2004, Alyce later moved to the Good Samaritan Dakota Meadows assisted living complex where she was surrounded by many of her friends and was able to spend many more hours playing cards. Alyce was well known for her wonderful cooking and baking skills and she always had a recipe to share with everyone.

Alyce is survived by her daughter, MaryBelle (Terry) Gratton, Larimore; grandsons, Chad Gratton, Grand Forks and Ryan Gratton, Larimore; sisters-in-law, Kay Wangen and Mildred Wangen, both of Petersburg.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brothers; Joe, Lawrence, Hans and Osborne; sisters, Lucille, LuGena and Anna Marie.

MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL: 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 18, 2013 at St. Stephen's Catholic Church in Larimore.

VISITATION: Thursday, January 17 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. with a 7 p.m. Prayer Service held in St. Stephen's Catholic Church. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the Mass on Friday.
