Ruth Mae Hipwell Rogers Charlton
(July 6, 1922 - January 10, 2013)

Ruth Mae Hipwell Rogers Charlton, 90, passed away on January 10, 2013 at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born in Plain City on July 6, 1922 to Stella Jane Maw and Llewellyn Hipwell.

She married Harold Archie Rogers on March 30, 1940 in Harrisville, UT. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on April 12, 1944. Harold passed away on August 15, 1991. She married Edward Paul Charlton on October 10, 1998. Paul passed away on April 8, 2009.

Ruth lived in Plain City her whole life. She graduated from Weber High School and Seminary and was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

She loved spending time with her family, traveling and bowling. Ruth was a devoted mother to her eight children. She retired from IRS.

Ruth is survived by her eight children, Diane (Glen) Campbell, Beverly (Clark) Simmons, Elaine (Bob) Cliften, Michael (Chris) Rogers, Dennis (Sharilyn) Rogers, Sheila (Steve) Jaques, Craig (Barbara) Rogers, Brent (Denise) Rogers, 35 grandchildren, 85 great-grandchildren, 13 great-great-grandchildren, and sister, Elsie Costley.

She was preceded in death by her two husbands, Harold and Paul; 2 brothers, Elmer and Earl Hipwell; two sons-in-law, Vernon C. Andersen and Fred G. Umbrell, II; one grandchild, Nancy Umbrell and one great-grandchild, Logan Emily Rogers.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 17, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the Plain City 2nd Ward, 2952 North 4200 West, Plain City. Friends may visit with family on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist's North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 North Washington Blvd., and Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.

Interment, Plain City Cemetery.
