He was the son of Isaac & Mary (Linder) Cantrell. He moved, with his parents, to South Carolina as a young adult.

He married Ann Bennett, 1802, Spartanburg County. He was listed there on the 1810 census. He, like his father, became a Baptist Preacher.

PIEDMONT HISTORICAL SOCIETY QUARTERLY published in volumes six and seven the Bastardy Bonds processes for Spartanburg County. One dated 8 Feb 1808 says Adorcas Caroline Ezell named Abraham Cantrell as the father of her daughter, Mary Ezell. Bond was signed by James Ezell, Nimrod Cantrell, Abraham Cantrell.

In the spring of 1817 he moved his family to Kentucky. In 1820 they were recorded in Floyd County.

The 1844 newspaper item at right makes me think he may have returned to South Carolina, for a short time, after Ann's death in 1835. (If in fact he signed the first partition)

He married Mrs Lucy (Burke) Anderson, 23 Feb 1848 in Letcher County, Kentucky. They were on the 1850 census in Pike County near Shelby Gap.

He prepared his Will 23 March 1858 and it was presented in court for probate 20 Dec 1858 in Pike County.
