MRS. MARY M. FARRELLY.
Died on Sunday, August 19, 1888, Mrs. Mary M. Farrelly, widow of the late Hon, J. W. Farrelly. The beautiful life is ended, The eyes once so bright are now closed in a last, long sleep: the cheerful voice now mute; the warm, loving heart, so full of kindness and the charity which never faileth has ceased its beating, and the hands which so often ministered to the wants and woes of the sick and dying, are now quietly folded upon the silent, pulseless bosom.
Mrs. Mary M. Farrelly was the daughter of John Ellis, of Mend township, and was born on the 8th of May, 1818. in her youth she united with the Episcopal Church, and was a consistant (sic) member of the same throughout her life. In 1849 she married Hon. J. W. Farrelly, and to his orphan children was a tender and devoted mother. Of that family Dr. E. M. Farrelly alone survives.
For several years before her death she was an invalid, and during the last few weeks she suffered greatly. All that medical skill or careful nursing could do was done, without avail. She quietly declined, surrounded by those she loved best. She was conscious of her approaching dissolution, and met it without fear. She would say sometimes, "How good the Lord is, oh, how He is!" and during her Buffering exclaim, "I am near my home. I am almost there."
When the last hour drew near, she talked to each, and all of the importance of being at peace with God, and telling them to meet her in Heaven, adding "I hope we shall know each other there." And on that last Sunday, when the sun was about to set, she fell asleep==she had gone home. Shall we say her life is ended? Ah no, it has just begun. E.
