Violet B. Staggs, 73, of Rt. 6, Box 6958, Keyser, W.Va., died Tuesday, January 27, 2004, at Potomac Valley Hospital, Keyser.

Born March 2, 1930, in Romney, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late William H. and Hanna Susan (Poland) Beatty. She also was preceded in death by her husband Marshall Lee Staggs on December 15, 1993; six brothers, Cecil, Welby, Russell, Marvin, Tom and Joe Beatty; and two sisters, Minnie Loy and Bessie Leatherman.

Mrs. Staggs was a homemaker and was a member of the Beaver Run Church of the Brethren, Burlington, W.Va.

Surviving is one son, James Edward Staggs, at home; one brother, Richard Beatty; two sisters, Emma Biser and Mary Beatty, all of Burlington; special family friends, Randy and Sharon Montgomery of Burlington; her beloved cat, "Rusty" and several nieces and nephews.

At Mrs. Staggs' request, there will be no public visitation.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Beaver Run Church of the Brethren, Burlington, on Friday, January 30, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Preston Miller and Rev. Samuel Biser officiating.

Interment will be in the Beaver Run Cemetery, Burlington.

The Smith Funeral Home, Burlington Chapel, is in charge of the arrangements.
