Gracie Degrate, age 70, passed away on Tuesday, November 27, 2012 in Lubbock, Texas.
Family Visitation will be held from 6 to 7 O'clock PM on Friday, November 30, 2012 at Wright Colonial Funeral Home. Funeral services are set for 2 O'clock PM Saturday, December 1, 2012 at Lunn Funeral Home Chapel in Olney, Texas with Reverend Shannon Harrison, Reverend Robert Sweet, and Reverend Dave Autry officiating. Burial will follow in the Westover Cemetery under the direction of Wright Colonial Funeral Home.
Mrs. Degrate was born on December 24, 1941 to Earvin and Mattie Johnson Collins. She married Sidney Degrate on July 2, 1960 in Wichita Falls, Texas. Gracie enjoyed working in Clothing Manufacturing, was a dedicated 40 year member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church, and loved gardening and charity work.
Surviving Mrs. Degrate is her Husband, Sidney Degrate of Snyder, Texas; 2 sons, Bobby Charles Degrate of Dallas, Texas and Tony Degrate of Austin, Texas; 5 sisters, Jeannie Smith of Snyder, Texas, Hazel Degrate of Westover, Texas, Joyce Hall of Wichita Falls, Texas, Juanita Cooper of Lancaster, California, and Ruby Davis of Pasadena, California; and 2 brothers Joe Collins of Garland, Texas, and James Collins of Westover, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters Betty Smith and Eva Nabors; 1 brother Harley Collins; 1 Niece Mattie Smith; and 1 nephew Adrian Collins.
