Jeannie M. Smith-Collins, age 64 of Snyder, Texas, passed away January 18, 2022, in Lubbock, Texas. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 22, 2022, in the chapel of Lunn Funeral Home in Olney, Texas with Reverend Shannon Harrison, pastor of Mount Olive Baptist Church in Snyder, Texas, officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. immediately prior to the service. Interment will follow at Westover Cemetery in Westover, Texas. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney.
Jeannie was born June 30, 1957, in Rockwall, Texas to the late Earvin and Mattie B. (Johnson) Collins. She was a devoted member of Mount Olive Baptist Church in Snyder, Texas. She was a great cook and enjoyed cooking at Martha Ann Woman's Club where she cooked for the community service clubs: Rotary, Lions and Kiwanis. She truly loved spending time with her family and friends. Jeannie was a true fighter and overcame many obstacles in her life. She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Mattie Jena Nicole Smith; six sisters, Gracie Degrate, Hazel Degrate, Eva Nabors, Wanda Jean Collins, Betty Jean Joan Faye Collins and Joyce Nell Hall; and two brothers, Hardy Collins and James Earl Collins.
Jeannie is survived by two sons, James Smith, Jr. and Jermaine Smith both of Snyder, Texas; two sisters, Ruby Davis of Altadena, California and Juanita Cooper of Lancaster, California; one brother, Joe Collins of Dallas, Texas; and two grandchildren, Abigail Nicole Smith and Gabriel Marie Smith both of Snyder, Texas.
