Young Farmer Dies From Brain Hemorrhage
Mr. Art Schuiteman, 45, passed away at the Sacred Heart hospital at LeMars early Sunday morning, Dec. 11.
He became ill the early part of last week complaining of a headache. On Wednesday evening he suffered a brain hemorrhage and was rushed to he hospital where he remained in a critical condition until the time of his death.
Born on Jan. 22, 1904, Mr. Schuiteman was the youngest in a family of seven children, of whom only three now survive.
On Feb. 14, 1928 he was united in marriage to Katherine Hofland of Orange City. To this union six children were born.
Their only son James Gerben passed away in infancy on July 23, 1931. Five daughters now survive with the mother, Wilma, Gertrude, Arta, Rosalie Mae and Ruth Elaine.
He is further survived by a sister (Mrs. Evert Schut) and two brothers William and John all of Sioux Center.
Besides the infant son he was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Aart Schuiteman and three sisters Mrs. Henry Kruizenga, Mrs. Joe Navis and Mrs. Herman Ennema.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday afternoon at the home and at the First- Reformed Church, Rev. P.A. De Jong officiating. Special music was furnished at the services by a men's quartet consisting of Gerrit Van Putten, Wilbur Verrneer, Henry Kosters and Gerald Bosch who sang "Beyond The Sunset" and "Safe In The Arms Of Jesus".
Burial took place at the local community cemetery and acting as pallberarers were six of his nephews: Melvin Schuiteman, Arthur Kruizenga, Arthur Navis, Arthur J. Schuiteman, Ellsworth Schut and Andrew Ennema.
