George Gourley Dies

George W. Gourley, 68, 2315 Fairview St., died in his home at 8:15 a.m. Sunday.

He was born at Nineveh, in Johnson County, April 25, 1890, a son of Christopher C. and Mary Ann True Gourley. He came to Anderson 43 years ago from Franklin. He had been an employee of the former Anderson Knife and Bar Company 30 years and of the former American Steel and Wire Company plant in Anders 15 years.

Mr. Gourley was a member of Goodwin Memorial Church of the Nazarene.
He and Alta Gourley would have observed their 40th wedding anniversary in March.

Survivors include: the widow; one son, C. C. "Joe" Gourley of Anderson; six daughters, Mrs. Leslie Davis, Mrs. Elma Tucker, Mrs. Mae Hiday, Mrs. Rose Yeagley, Mrs. Alberta Kimmerling and Mrs. Forrest Johnson, all of Anderson; 13 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Mattie Simpson of Indianapolis; one brother, Lawrence of Kokomo.

Friends are being received in the Brown and Butz Funeral Home.

Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Goodwin Memorial Church of the Nazarene, 15th and Louise Sts., by the Rev. Robert Ellis, pastor and the Rev. Don E. Grandlinard of Arrow Avenue Wesleyan Methodist Church.

Burial will be in East Maplewood Cemetery.
