Alta Thompson Teague Alawine, 93, of Mooresville, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 24, 2009, at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center.
Born on July 16, 1916, in Iredell County she was a daughter of the late Edward Faith and Edith Wilson Thompson. Mrs. Alawine was a retired spinner from Burlington Industries. She was a member of Broad Street United Methodist Church, Mooresville, where she was a member of the Circle. She was also a member of the Mooresville Senior Citizens Group.
Mrs. Alawine was preceded in death by husbands, Walter Teague and James "Jim" Alawine;
son, Grady J. Teague;
sisters, Mamie Deaton and Pauline Harwell;
and brothers, Gene Mac and Lathan Thompson.
She is survived by a son, Lynn Andrew Teague of Charlotte; grand-daughter, Tina Louise Teague;
daughter-in-law, Shirley Teague of Dallas, Texas;
sister, Carol Sherrill of Mooresville;
brothers, Rollen Thompson, Rufus Thompson, Authur Thompson and Allen Edward Thompson, all of Mooresville;
and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 27, at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home Chapel, Mooresville, with Rev. Amy Freeze officiating. Burial followed in Glenwood Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County, 2347 Simonton Rd., Statesville, NC 28625 and/or Broad Street United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 1293, Mooresville, NC 28115. Cavin-Cook Funeral Home in Mooresville is serving the family of Mrs. Alawine.
