Joseph was born in Fall River the son of the late Amedee and Emilie (Pelletier) Belanger. He attended the former Msgr. Prevost High School and then served his country during the Korean War with the United States Army earning the rank of Staff Sergeant.
Tippy worked as a driver and salesman for Independent Rentals in Fall River and then Clean Rentals in New Bedford for twenty-five years retiring in 1990. He worked part time from 1995 as a deliveryman for LaCava & Sowersby. Mr. Belanger served on the Vestry at the Church of the Holy Spirit in Fall River and was a former Warden. Tippy was a member of the Fall River Country Club and Hillcrest Country Club. He was an avid bowler who toured regularly throughout the east coast.
Survivors are two sons: Jeffrey J. Belanger of Fall River, MA; Samuel Belanger of New York City; two sisters: Irene Abbatamatteo of Fall River, MA; and Aline Andrade of Fall River, MA; a brother: Normand Belanger of Fall River, MA; and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Anita Beattie, and Edgar L. Belanger.
Funeral Information
A Mass with Requiem Eucharist will be held on MONDAY at 9am in the Church of the Holy Spirit 160 Rock Street, Fall River. Relatives and friends are invited to attend, burial to follow with MILITARY HONORS in Oak Grove Cemetery in Fall River. CALLING HOURS will be SUNDAY from 3-6pm in the HATHAWAY HOME for FUNERALS, 1813 Robeson St., Fall River, MA.
