Father of Martin Hoyl, Hannah and Anne
Wife: Elizabeth Brooks Hoyl
She was remarried 1764 to Maj. Jacob Costner
Father: Peiter (Heyl) Hoyl, landed in America, September 11, 1738 on a ship named Robert & Alice. Peiter was born Sept 10, 1710 - Wiesbaden, Hessen, Preußen, Germany. Died November 1, 1761 - Lincoln County NC.
Mother: Susannah Catherine Dales Hoyl was born April 10, 1714 - Nassan, Deggendorf, Bayern, Germany. Died April 7, 1787 - Lincoln County NC.
Information by Toby Turner (revised David Claris, 9th gen. descendent of "Pioneer" Peiter Heyl, citing 1938 genealogy by Elizabeth Hoyle Ruckers)
He was born/baptized in Hundsbach, Bad Kreuznach District, Rhineland-Palatinate. Citing Miles Philbeck. "The Families of Michel Heÿel of Jeckenbach and Ulrich Müller of Hundsbach," Bulletin of The Genealogical Society of Old Tryon County, vol. 39, no. 1 (Feb 2011): page 4, citing Reformed Church records for Hundsbach, page 6. I've tried but failed to read the original German Script on microfilm.
The problem here is that he died bef. 2 Aug 1763 (viz, d.1761) when there was notice of his estate sale. Citing Lorena Shell Eaker, compiler. German Speaking People West of the Catawba River in North Carolina 1750-1899 and Some Emigres' Participation in the Early Settlement of Southwest Missouri (Church Hill: SCK Publications, 1994), page 236; citing Jacob Hoyl's estate return in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina Court of Please and Quarter Sessions, Oct Session.

Toby Turner
