James Lewis Bolt, Sr., 90, of 16 Boxwood Rd., and husband of the late Mildred Ann Farmer Bolt, passed away Wednesday, November 7, 2012, at McCall Hospice House in Simpsonville.

Born in Laurens, he was a son of the late Furman Alvin Bolt and Lila Louise Brownlee Bolt. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII, a Bronze Star and Purple Heart Recipient, and an Inductee of the Laurens County Hall of Heroes. He retired from Laurens Glass after 28 years. Mr. Bolt was a member of Hejaz Shrine Temple, Rose Court #13 Order of the Amaranth, and Rossie Walker Masonic Lodge #354. He was a longtime member of New Prospect Baptist Church.

Mr. Bolt is survived by two sons: Barry Bolt (Deborah) and James L. Bolt, Jr. (DeDe); a brother Johnnie Bolt (Lib); and a sister Betty Ann Spires (Bennie) all of Laurens; grandchildren: Jason Bolt, Jodi Reid (Ray), Bryant Bolt, Brittany Mercer (Anthony), Sarah Bolt; a step-grandson, Robert Etheridge; great grandchildren: Seth, Tanner, and Alaina; and a step-great grandson, Ray Jr.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by two brothers: Furman Bolt, Jr. and Melvin Bolt; and four sisters, Marilyn Hazel, Kathryn Bolt, Ozzie Mae Nelson, and Dib Lyons; and a daughter-in-law, Sue Ann Cox Bolt.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, November 10, 2012, at New Prospect Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Kirk Carlisle followed by interment in New Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery with Military and Masonic Rites.
