Mr. Rankin was a World War II veteran. He received an American Service Medal, an America Theater Medal and a Good Conduct Medal during his service career.
Services were held Feb. 19, 1992, 1 p.m., from Goodwater C.M.E. Church, Magee. Burial was held at Gregory Cemetery with Cook Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include four sons, Tommy Rankin, Jr. of San Antonio, Texas, Tymeon Rankin of Mt. Olive, David (Mary) Rankin of Jackson, Clifton (Earlene) Rankin of Dallas Texas; four daughters, Patricia Ann (Arthur) Hayes of Omaha Nebraska, Delores Jean (George) Nash of Greenville, Queen Esther (Robert) Stubbs of Houston Texas, Rebecca Sue (Tyrone) Armstrong of Jackson; 15 grandchildren; four sisters; one brother; one uncle; three sisters-in-laws, a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
