Tommy James Rankin, Jr. son of the late Mr. Tommy James Rankin, Sr. and Mrs. Hazel Johnson Rankin, was born July 8, 1948 in Magee, Mississippi and departed this life on Thursday, February 27, 1997 at Northeast Baptist Hospital. San Antonio, Texas.
He graduated from McLaurin Attendance Center, Magee, Mississippi and attended Mississippi Valley and "Jackson State Universities. Tommy also served in the United States Army where he received an honorable discharge in 1971.
At the time of his demise, he was employed with Alcoa Fijikura Ltd. as a production supervision.
He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Goodwater CM.E Church Tommy later became a member of the Grace First Baptist Church, San Antonio, Texas.
Mr. Rankin's memories will be cherished by a loving and devoted mother, Mrs. Hazel Johnson Rankin; three daughters: Tonya Rankin, Tupelo, Mississippi, Dinah (Kenneth) Wilson of Honolulu, Hawaii and Katina Rankin, Ridgeland, Mississippi; one son, Taurean Jamaal Craft; three brothers and four sisters: Mrs. Patricia (Arthur) Hayes, Omaha, Nebraska, Mrs. Delores (George) Nash, Greenville, Mississippi, Tymon Rankin, Mt. Olive, Mississippi, David Rankin of Jackson, Mississippi, Mrs. Queen Esther (Robert) Stubbs, Houston, Texas, Clifton (Earlene) Rankin, Dallas, Ft. Worth, Texas and Mrs. Rebecca Sue (Caleb) Armstrong of Jackson, Mississippi.
A host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, one very special cousin, Mrs. Mary Alice Smith of Memphis, Tennessee, and numerous friends.
